Larkindesign CT | June Release + 8 1/2 x 11 Layout

Happy Monday lovelies! I am back today to share a look at the June digital collection release at Larkindesign. This month’s collection is titled Lovin’ The Sun and it’s here right in time for summer! Which, by the way, I feel it crawled up on me this year, where did time go?

So, as always, I am sharing a quick look at the collection itself and later in this blog post I am sharing one of the three projects I created using the collection this month. If you are loving what you’re seeing stop by the Larkindesign Shop to purchase the collection here.

Here is a look at what is included in the collection this month. There are 12×12 sheets, 3×4 and 4×6 cards, the printable elements, plus a super awesome additional printable elements with pure florals (my fave, EVERY TIME!).

This is just a quick look at the collection, but you can find more awesome images on the shop.

Now, I am also sharing a fun 8 1/2 x 11 layout that I created using the patterned papers and one of the journaling cards to document my son’s first toddler encounter at the beach.

Here it is:

Since there was no cut file this month, I decided to use this sunbeam one designed by Paige Taylor Evans which I purchased from the Silhouette shop. The cut file itself was cut in a 12×12 format but I just cut the extra hangover around my whole page so that it fit perfectly.

I then went ahead and stitched every single one of the white sunbeams. This part took me about an hour, but I think you guys know how much I love my stitching, so it was more pleasure than anything!

After I finished all the stitching I went on to use the extra pieces from the cuts to measure and cut the patterned papers. I used a total of three patterns and repeated them in clusters of three, if you pay close attention you can see how they’re repeating.

I made sure to add more texture and dimension by popping the colored sunbeams on foam dots. I love the raised look that separates the strips from the solid white back!

Next I added my photo which, as I mentioned, was my cute one year old totting around the beautiful Pacific coast!

To embellish the photo I used two of the washi strips from the cut apart elements to the top and bottom of my photo. I also added stitching to those, and it created an awesome frame.

Then for my title I used the journaling card that had the quote: the ocean is calling. And my gosh, it goes so perfect! I backed that with a tag and added a small journaling spot under the title using the green label.

I wasn’t quite finished, though. I felt as though the top left side of my page was too bare, so I added a binder label in a new way by attaching it towards the inside rather than it sticking towards the outside.

I really love this look!

I also added a stamp sentiment using my newest roller stamp from the Crate Paper Heare + There collection.

My final touch was popping some enamel dots in a range of colors that match the patterned papers.

And that is it!! I love how this layout turned out.

I hope that I have inspired you all to create a fun summery layout using this gorgeous collection! Don’t forget your stitching!

That’s it from me today, I will be back very soon with much more scrappy inspired. Thanks for stopping by and stay crafty! Xo
